Fire Benefit Charge Renewal
Thank You for Your Support
We are grateful to the Duvall community for your support of emergency services. Your approval of the fire benefit charge renewal in the April 22, 2025 election helps ensure our fire district remains well-equipped, well-staffed, and ready to respond—day or night.
How Emergency Services Are Funded
Emergency services in our district are primarily funded through two sources:
-
Fire Levy: A tax based on a property’s assessed value.
-
Fire Benefit Charge: An assessment based on a structure’s size, use, and risk. Smaller properties, such as homes, pay less than larger, higher-risk structures like commercial buildings.
The fire benefit charge reduces the fire levy by $0.50 per $1,000 of assessed value and ensures that structures of similar size are charged equally—regardless of market value. This creates a more fair and balanced approach to funding emergency services.
By diversifying revenue and aligning costs with service risk, the fire benefit charge helps us maintain fast response times and high-quality care. That’s why more than two dozen fire agencies across Washington use this model.
Stay Involved
We invite you to stay engaged by attending a Duvall-KCFD45 Board of Commissioners meeting. These meetings are open to the public and offer an opportunity to learn more about what’s next for your fire district, ask questions, and share feedback. Your involvement helps us make informed decisions that reflect the values and needs of the community we serve.
